“Maggie Boger is 104 Years Young"

Maggie Boger was at the Weidman Senior Center with her senior group from Brinton sharing dinner with Food With Friends in early May when this picture was taken. That morning she had prepared her own breakfast and did a load of washing before she came. This gallant lady has proved that even at this age you can be independent with a little help from family. She was born in a log house in Sherman Township on 1/4/1898 and has been alone in her own home since Martin Boger, her husband, died about 27 years ago.

She said, "I eat right and do most of my own cooking. My poor eyesight and hearing have made it more difficult to socialize, but I still get out every chance that I get."

Maggie and Martin worked hard on the farm and she stated that she doesn't want to go back to the old days. Her best memories are of doing the chores so that her 3 daughters could have an education and wouldn't have to work as hard as she did. She succeeded because her daughters were all in education. She has 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Although she cannot take care of all of the outside flowers that she used to have she still cares for a lot of houseplants that give her a lot of comfort.

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."
